THOUSAND PILLAR TEMPLE



INTRODUCTION

      This is the historic Hindu temple located in the town of  Hanmakonda , Telangana State  INDIA
   It is dedicated to Lord Shiva,Vishnu,Surya.
       Thousand pillar temple along with warangal fort Kakatiya killa Thoranam and Ramappa temple
are added to the tentative liet of World Hertiage Sites recognized by UNESCO



 HISTORY

 Many Hindu temples were developed under the patronage of Ganapathi deva , Rudrama devi
and Prataparudra who were of of kakatiya dynasty . The thousand pillar temple was belived  to
be constructed during the period between 1175-1324 CE by order of the king Rudra Deva.

   It stand out to be a masterpiece and achevied major heights in terms of architectural skills by the
ancient kakatiya vishwakarama sthapathis architect. The executive officer of subject temple is
P.Venugopal.

  And 7th Nizam of Hyderabad (Mir Osman Ali Khan ) denoted a grant of 1 lakh INR towards
reconstruction of this temple.


ARCHITECTURE

 The thousand pillar temple with its ruins near the Hanamkonda - Warangal highway in Telangana
State.Nearly 150 km from the city of Hyderabad Rudreaswara Temple is also locally known as
Veyisthambala Gudi (Thousand pillar temple) is one of the finest art example Kakatiya art .
 
  The Architecture and Seulpture  . It was built by Rudra deva . And named after him as
"SRI RUDRESHWARA SWAMY TEMPLE"  with the presiding deity as Ruderswara .

 The temple was renovated in 2004 by the "GOVERNMENT OF INDIA" archeological survey
of INDIA and mordern engineers have been working for the temple's further renovation.



TRANSPORT

The  nearest railway station is the warangal railway station which is 6 kms away from the
temple.
   RAJIV GANDHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is the nearest airport to the temple.
